Under their banner Duplass Brothers Productions, award-winning filmmakers Mark and Jay Duplass create original projects for film, television, and digital media.  The pair first gained recognition in the early 2000’s for writing, directing and producing several acclaimed independent and studio films, including THE PUFFY CHAIR, BAGHEAD, CYRUS, and JEFF, WHO LIVES AT HOME.  Their numerous producorial feature film credits in the decades following have included THE ONE I LOVE, TANGERINE, SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, CREEP (1 & 2), BIOSPHERE, LANGUAGE LESSONS, THE SKELETON TWINS and Jay's own film THE BALTIMORONS. 

In television they have created such shows as TOGETHERNESS and ROOM 104 both for HBO.  They also produced HBO's animated series ANIMALS, as well as the award-winning SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE, which was named an AFI TV Program of the Year in its first season, won a Peabody Award in its second, and in its third and final season Jeff Hiller took home the Emmy for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.  More recently, Mark has been leading the charge in the indie TV space, most prominently with the series PENELOPE, which he co-created with his longtime collaborator Mel Eslyn.  Created independently, they sold the finished series to Netflix in the US, landing in the Top 10 Most Watched TV Shows in its first week, followed by a Spirit Award nomination for the lead actress Megan Stott and two Gotham TV Award nominations for Breakthrough Limited and Best Lead.  In 2024 the team added to their CREEP franchise with Shudder's episodic THE CREEP TAPES, which became the #2 trending title on AMC+ in it's first season.

Frequent collaborators in the documentary space, they've produced Sam Jones' HBO docs TONY HAWK: UNTIL THE WHEELS FALL OFF for which they won the PGA Award for Outstanding Sports Program, and JASON ISBELL: RUNNING WITH OUR EYES CLOSED.  They also produced the award-winning documentary NOT GOING QUIETLY, which follows the activist and lawyer Ady Barkan, as well as the true crime story LAST STOP LARRIMAH, which aired on HBO in the states, and Netflix internationally, immediately becoming Australia's #3rd most watched show.  Also active in the docuseries space, they are best known for producing Netflix’s WILD WILD COUNTRY, winner of the Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series in 2018.  They also produced the critically acclaimed series THE LADY AND THE DALE on HBO, both Hulu's SASQUATCH and OUT THERE: CRIMES OF THE PARANORMAL, and they won their second Emmy for producing Netflix’s AMERICAN CONSPIRACY:THE OCTOPUS MURDERS.

The brothers also appear as actors in various series and films. Highlights for Mark include THE MORNING SHOW on Apple TV+ for which he was nominated for two Emmy Awards, the Oscar-winning film ZERO DARK THIRTY, YOUR SISTER'S SISTER with Emily Blunt, BOMBSHELL opposite Charlize Theron, and Hulu's GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY alongside Ellen Pompeo. Jay is perhaps best known for his role in Amazon’s groundbreaking series TRANSPARENT.  He's also appeared as Michelle William's husband in FX's Emmy nominated series DYING FOR SEX, in HBO’s INDUSTRY, and plays Hades in Disney’s PERCY JACKSON.
